Bio

Emerging composer and improviser Joshua Hahn has been presented by Boston Musica Viva, Nonevent, East Coast Contemporary Ensemble and Da Camera of Houston. Joshua’s music starts with the instruments. He often applies his background in engineering to craft exciting, integrated electro-acoustic works.

An active composer and improviser in Boston, Joshua Hahn is completing a commission for Trio Notturno and plays with Inedit sound and movement ensemble. In the past year his works have been premiered by Red Hedgehog Trio, Vox Novus Fifteen Minutes of Fame, and Madera Winds. He has ongoing improvising collaborations with Dan Sedgwick, piano and James Coleman, theremin, and has been presented as an improviser by Opensound, Nameless Sound, Nonevent and Washington Street Art Center.

Joshua is a freelance musician who has appeared with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra Wind Quintet (flute), Tufts New Music Ensemble (flute and electronics), Greek Music Ensemble/Berklee Performance Center (nay) and in the US premiere of Stockhausen’s Stop with the Harvard Bach Society Orchestra (synthesizer and electronics).
